Little burning activities are everywhere
Here are simple tips to help you burn more calories:
Find little ways to burn calories: There are many high-energy activities that can help you burn calories; skipping rope, jumping on a trampoline, or even vacuuming your house! Many dieters rely solely on supplements or diet pills to help burn calories or increase metabolism. But this is usually not effective and can be hazardous to your health. Even pills that do afford you some weight loss are not going to be effective long-term; once you stop taking the pills, you’ll see weight gain. It’s better to back up your weight program with exercise and health eating. Some out-of-the-gym activities that can actually burn significant calories per hour include washing the car, gardening, jumping rope, or vigorous housework. Other burning ‘secrets’ include taking the stairs to your apartment or your office.
These little tips don’t just apply to exercise; they can be used with nutrition as well. When eating out, try skipping the regular dressing on salads and going with the low-fat option. Or just use oil and vinegar. Some salads use toppings that can be fatty- skip the extra cheese and olives on top and ask for extra tomatoes. Eating pizza? Sometimes the restaurant could use skim cheese or you could blot the extra oil off your hot pizza slice. And make sure you are drinking enough water! When your body is dehydrated, not only does it function at less than optimal metabolism, but you could mistake thirst for hunger cravings. Also, staying hydrated usually means you will not feel as hungry in between meals.
There are also little additives to our daily food routine that could add up to significant calories weekly. Daily coffee users will find that if they drink more than one cup of coffee each day, they are consuming significant calories each week from the cream and sugar in their cups. Substitute with a healthy sugar replacement, such as Stevia or Splenda, and try using a low-fat option instead of cream. If you just drink coffee as a habit, consider drinking green tea instead. There are practically no calories in green tea, and its reputation as a cancer-fighting antioxidant rich drink holds no harm for the dieter!
